I've had a couple people ask me about kinds of bikes for cross racing and labs.

The answer is that just about anything will work. Purpose-built cross bikes are an obvious choice, but touring bikes (sans racks) and hybrids are also well-suited. Mountain bikes are pretty good (pump those tires up!) and some older road bikes (ones with a bit of clearance for 28c or 30c tires) will do the job just fine (heck, Jonny B. proved that even newer road bikes with skinny tires will work).

But regardless of the kind of bike, some kind fo shoe that allows you to run (either a mountain bike shoe or running shoes) is necessary.

And, for the roadies who might be interesting in trying a cross lab but don't want to take their bike off-road, there is always the option of working on skills on pavement.

MUCR wants YOU!
