barrier use policy

seems to me that I was suppose to write a barrier use policy. in light of the barrier meeting tonight here is what i have come up with so far. please send me your comments and suggestions.

PURPOSE:

The Manitoba Union of Cyclocross Riders (MUCR) has made available a set of portable cyclocross barriers which can be used by Manitoba Cycling Association (MCA) members for the training, practicing, and use in any cyclocross races.

POLICY and PROCEDURES:

1. Purpose: The Manitoba Union of Cyclocross Riders (MUCR) has made available a set of portable cyclocross barriers which can be used by Manitoba Cycling Association (MCA) members for the training, practicing, and use in any cyclocross race.

2. Priority Use: Priority use of the barriers will be given first to individuals, clubs or organizations that are running a MCA sanctioned cyclocross race. If no sanctioned race is being held on a given day, use of the barriers will be given to users on a first come basis

3. Users: Any member in good standing with the Manitoba Cycling Association may use the barriers by booking them through the assigned MUCR representative.

4. Booking: Individuals, clubs and organizations wishing to use the MUCR barriers will contact the appointed MUCR representative to book the barriers. Contact information for the MUCR barrier can be found at the MUCR website: www.mucr.ca.

5. Pickup: Barriers will be picked up at a location and time as determined by the MUCR representative in charge of the barriers (contact information for the MUCR barrier can be found at the MUCR website: www.mucr.ca.). Locations may change several times during a season depending on which MUCR representative is in charge of storing and or transporting the barriers to a training, practice, or race.

6. Return: At the time of the booking, the borrower and the MUCR representative will agree upon time and place where the barriers will be returned. It is the sole responsibility of the borrower to return the barriers to the place at the time agreed upon. Failure to return the barriers to an appointed MUCR representative at the agreed upon time and place may result in the individual, club, or organization from borrowing the barriers in the future.

7. Repair/Replacement: It is expected that the barriers will be returned in the same condition they were received. Individuals, clubs and organizations will be asked to pay for the repair or replacement of the barriers in the event of any damage or loss of the barriers while they are in the possession of the individuals, clubs and organizations.

What do you think?

MUCR is crafting a mission statement.

Because our group is kind of a strange animal, and we need to explain what we are/aren't, and because we don't want to diffuse the good energy of other clubs who are putting on races, etc., we think it would be helpful to be able to define ourselves and our raison d'etre. And it would help keep us focused, which never hurts.

Sample for discussion:

The Manitoba Union of Cyclocross Riders (MUCR) exists to help develop cyclocross riders, events and culture in Manitoba. As a cyclocross umbrella group affiliated with the Manitoba Cycling Association (MCA), MUCR works to support and coordinate the efforts of other MCA clubs for the benefit of the sport of cyclocross.

What do you think? All comments appreciated.
